Popin Cookin'

Check out the intense concentration..
but what am I so busy with exactly?

Because my previous blogpost is full of my face,
I shall give you guys a break in this post and post pictures of these adorable and EDIBLE toys!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Popin Cookin'!
I bought these from Scape underground at about $10 per box with my boyfriend
and we're hooked!
We've done with all 4 sets and we are going to look for more of these to play with soon!

We bought the fast food set, the sushi set, the curry rice set and the bento set!

We started playing with the fast food set first :)
Inside each packet it usually comes with a white plastic tray, with lots of small sections, a spoon/fork mixer and sachets of powder.
Each section is designated for something - some for mixing, some for you to get the required shapes for the set, and one as a cup to measure how much water you'll need to mix in!

I'm amazed at how compact everything is and you'll need practically everything in the box/packet,
sometimes including the outer wrapper itself!
Sometimes as a base for your prepared "food", or because they have outlines for you to cut according to etc!
So much effort has been put to designing this toy I swear o.o
But the most amazing part has yet to come.. (read on!)

Each set also comes with instructions at the back, but they're all in Japanese so we guessed our way through cause we don't understand anything it's saying lol!

Basically you just have to mix the sachet of powder with the stated amount of water,
and some magical thing happens and food appears!!!
Hahahaha it's insane how this works!
It's waaaaaay beyond sorcery already I swear!

For the burger set we actually had to microwave the mixture of powder + water for about 10 seconds..
And look what came out of it?!
MIND = BLOWN

This is fast food, for real.

Cute little burgers and a thick beef patty!
The beef patty is sliced into halves to be shared among 2 burgers.
One burger looks lop-sided and retarded because my boyfriend PRESSED so very violently onto it before it cooled down and stablised :@
So I told him the ugly one is his burger and the pretty and perfect looking one is mine hahah!

And here's the amazing part!
THE BURGER BUN TASTES LIKE BREAD
THE PATTY SMELT DAMN GOOD AND TASTED LIKE MEAT
THE CHEESE TASTED LIKE CHEDDAR CHEESE
THE TOMATO SAUCE WAS SLIGHTLY SOUR AND SWEET
THE FRENCH FRIES TASTED AUTHENTIC
THE COKE EVEN HAD THE FIZZ THAT REGULAR COKE HAS

and all of that derived from little sachets of powder O.O
I don't know what to believe anymore.................

I'm telling you this shit is crazily addictive, damn fun to play with,
and the best part is IT ACTUALLY TASTED NICE LOL!
Martin only ate a bit of it because he thinks it's all chemicals and what not
but I gobbled down the entire thing like it was a legit burger and I drank the coke too hahah!

Next, we moved on to the sushi set!
Again, mixing powder plus water, and watch "food" appear magically in front of your eyes :S

Here is sushi rice!

Egg and Tuna!
The egg's section had those lines you'd usually see on egg sushi and the tuna's section had stripes like a real tuna, super cool!

Shaping the sushi rice according to the drawing on the packet :)
They even had a seaweed for one of it!

This is the most fun part where you get to use a dropper (included in the packet) to drop the orange solution into a clear solution,
and the "fish roe" solidifies on the outside.
TALK ABOUT HARDCORE!

The most unbelievable part is that the texture of it is EXACTLY like the real fish roe,
with a thin film on the outside and when you bite into it, the juice will burst out!
But everything in this sushi set tastes like jelly/grape juice and all instead of the real thing, but still?!
It's too damn realistic!
Madness!!!!

Scooping the fish roe onto the sushi!

The "wooden tray" had to be cut out from the wrapper for us to place the sushi on :)

Itadakimasu!

When we first bought them I was quite scared it'd taste plasticy, fake and gross,
but JAPANESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING, as always!!!
It actually tastes quite good and I would eat the entire Popin Cookin' sets by myself if I didn't have to share LOL :p

But there are some other brands (I think) which sells similar products that CAN'T be eaten!
So please ask first before you buy them okay? :)

Next we played with the curry rice set!

How it looks on the inside :)
See that packet of little cream coloured bead-like things?
Those are some kind of biscuit thingy which you have to crush finely to form the crust of the croquette! :D
COOL RIGHT!

No pictures of the mixing process because it's almost the same!
Except you have to shape the croquette into a star shape and a heart shape before crumbing it :)
Tasted like some yummy potato crackers or something, damn good please!!
Kinda wish I had a box of just the "croquettes" to munch on right now :/

Tadah, the curry rice is ready :)
And we cut one end of 2 tooth picks to form chopsticks!
SOOOO ADORABLE XD

And the "curry" tasted like real savory curry (and had little carrot and veggie bits in it) and the rice actually tastes like very mashed up rice...
HOW CAN THIS BE???

This got me thinking... if people are able to duplicate the taste and smell of food by just using powder,
what if everything we're eating right now isn't real at all?? O.O
Total mindfk hahah!

Finally, the panda bento set!
This was actually my least favourite because there was nothing really interesting about it except the panda "riceball" which was cute,
but compared to the rest which were so crazily fun, this paled in comparison.
Plus this was one of the jelly tasting set, and didn't taste like the real thing so it's not as cool hahah :p

But if I had started off with playing this set first I might have loved it a lot though! :)

Trying to make it look as similar to the picture..

Our panda looks sad for some reason hahah

Let me know if you guys have tried Popin Cookin' before and if you like it as much as I do!
If not, you can get them at Scape underground at about $10 per set and try it out :)
They also have those cakes, donuts and ice cream sets which didn't seem as interesting though so I didn't buy them.

There are also tons of YouTube videos of people making these and I really want to try all of the sets!
I've seen one where you can actually "deep fry" the chicken nuggets and chicken drumsticks and it will float to the surface of the "oil" once it's "cooked"???
DAFUQ lol!
Want want want!
Will share with you guys if I happen to find the other really fun Popin' Cookin sets!

Thank you for reading, love you all! :D
