SKM: A Nation of Kindness starts with ONE!

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
~Aesop

I blogged about this some time back, that kindness creates a rippling effect ^~^
Even a simple gesture like smiling at someone and saying "Hello, have a great day!", "Good morning!" or even "Please" and "Thank you", you can actually change their mood for the better and make their day!
In return, they will be kind and nice to the others that they meet too! :)
A Nation of Kindness starts with ONE!

SINGAPORE KINDNESS MOVEMENT PRESENTS ‘ONE OF A KIND’
– IN CELEBRATION OF KINDNESS DAY SG 2014

Kindness is in everyone. And the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) wants to encourage everyone
to start, show and share kindness!

Kindness Day SG falls on the last Friday of May every year.
It is a day dedicated to celebrating kindness in Singapore, and SKM hopes to encourage us all to perform kind acts wherever we are!
A series of activities will be carried out with partners, educational institutions, charity organizations and ground-up groups, including a ticketed celebratory event held on 30th May at Shanghai Dolly!

Some highlights of the event:
♥ Guest-Of-Honour, Mr. Baey Yam Keng, MP of Tampines GRC
♥  Dream Academy will present “One of a Kind” – a musical song and dance by artistes including the Dim Sum Dollies, Hossan Leong and Vocaluptous
♥  An official kindness song by Lorraine Tan will be launched
♥  Supporting acts include Jack and Rai, Elson Soh, Jacky 周玮贤, Juno林昭宇 and Stella Seah
♥ Certificates will be presented to individuals and groups in the Kindred Spirit Circle who have championed kindness in the past year

The cast alone sounds super promising already and it'll definitely be a musical no less than spectacular!
Support a good cause while enjoying a fabulous production? Count me in please!! ^~^

Date – Friday, 30 May 2014 (last Friday of May)

I'll be there for the musical too, so do let me know if you'll be there and we could take pictures together etc!! ^~^
I'm super excited to see you all!! xD

The creation of a kinder and more gracious society cannot be journeyed alone; we need the help of all stakeholders of our society as we work towards a kinder and more gracious Singapore! ^~^

All of us are capable of kind acts on a daily basis and I'm sure many of us are doing it subconsciously already! :D
Treating your parents or loved ones to a good meal from time to time, being encouraging to others, lending your friends a listening ear when they're upset, being polite and saying "please" & "thank you" with a smile,
holding the door for others..
helping those who are lost by providing them with directions, and so much more!! :D
Yup! Kindness can be found even in the smallest things we do! ^~^

If you or your office needs more ideas for spreading kindness at work,
SKM has also launched a corporate starter kit for the month of May! :D
You can download the resources in the kit on the Kindness Day website:
www.kindnessday.sg
I personally think the idea of taking turns to end work early to allow everyone to have dinner with their families is really cool and sweet! xD

By the way, since the yellow gerbera daisy is used as a symbol to show appreciation of kindness,
I decided to use these fabric daisy pins to do some simple DIY to spice up my apparels to get in the mood of Kindness Day! :D
Check this out!
Even something so rugged and tough like my shredded denim shorts softens up with a touch of the yellow daisy pins! ^~^
Just like how a little act of kindness can easily turn someone's frown into a smile too! :D
Side track a bit, isn't my backdrop cute? :P
I made it specially for this post!! ^~^
Daisy pin + hair tie = easiest bracelet DIY ever??? :D

The fabric daisy pins are sooo pretty, they really make everything look so much more cheery! ^~^
I also pinned a row of them on my plain knitted top!! :D
Loving the contrast of the yellow daisies against the dark navy blue top!
And even my platform shoes aren't spared haha!
I think the end result is TOTALLY CUTE and it definitely drew a lot of positive attention! :D

It's important that we realize that our words and actions all have an impact on others, whether we are aware of it or not.
So let's try our best to spread positivity and kindness as much as we can! ^~^

Also, if you've done, experienced or witnessed any acts of kindness,
do join in the #kindnessdaysg Instagram contest with photos or videos with the hashtag #kindnessdaysg
and you'll stand to win attractive prizes from Ripples!!

Do also “like” the SKM Facebook page
to show your support for this meaningful movement! ^~^

On their page, you can also see examples of various kindness initiatives undertaken by Singaporeans from the Facebook page such as the Coke drones, super inspirational stories about random acts of kindness, giveaways and so much more! :D

SKM aspires to inspire graciousness one kind act at a time.
By sparing a thought for the people around us, let's work towards creating a gracious society, and make life better for you and me!

By the way, there's a quiz on the SKM main website for you to find out how kind you are xD
I filled it up and this was my result!!! :D
Super thrilled when I saw the cake cause I really like to bake heheh! ^~^
Do visit their web, try the quiz out too and let me know what your results are!
Let's see if we're the same kind! :D

Thank you for reading, love you all!
